How a blocked DPF is cleared
DPF cleaning usually involves regeneration, which burns off built-up soot.
In many cases, this can happen through driving:
Active regeneration: typically 10+ minutes at a higher, consistent speed
Passive regeneration: usually motorway speeds for up to an hour
Sometimes regeneration won’t complete (especially with short trips, stop-start driving, or existing faults). If the warning light won’t clear or performance has dropped, a professional deep-clean is often the best next step.
